Journal Jar #11: Mothers & Wives

What kind of mother/wife do I want to be?

(This is seriously the question I randomly drew today.
How appropriate for Mother's Day, huh?)

  • I hope to be a mother that my kids can talk to, no matter what.
  • I hope to be a mother that celebrates little things.
  • I hope to be a mother that takes time for fun.
  • I hope to be a mother that recognizes when my kids aren't happy, or when they're struggling.
  • I hope to be a mother that can laugh every day.
  • I hope to be a mother that hugs my kids and tells them that I love them every day.
  • I hope to be a mother that teaches my children about responsibility and morality.
  • I hope to be a mother that kisses young kids' wounds, and helps to heal the teenaged ones too.
  • I hope to be a mother that attends all the recitals, games, shows, competitions, etc., and the mother that is her child's biggest fan.
  • I hope to be a mother that recognizes & honors kids' special days.
  • I hope to be a mother that shows my children the importance of education and learning.
  • I hope to be the mother that my daughters want to be when they grow up, and that my sons want to find in a wife.

  • I hope to be a wife that shows my husband I love him through my actions daily.
  • I hope to be a wife that hugs my husband and tells him that I love him every day.
  • I hope to be a wife that always has an ear to listen.
  • I hope to be a wife that shows patience and love while my husband provides for our family.
  • I hope to be a wife that my husband finds attractive years and years from now.
  • I hope to be a wife that remembers to do little, sometimes unnoticed actions to keep our house in order.
  • I hope to be a wife that takes the time to impress my husband once in a while.
  • I hope to be a wife that laughs every day.
  • I hope to be the wife that my husband has always wanted.

Very good qualities for mother and wife. I think you will be just how you plan. Also, your quails are cute. And I hope you had a great Mother's Day.

Ditto, Abbie. Well put. I might print them and put them in my journal. :)

I like the journal jar idea. And I like the wife/mother you want to be. I like to call it "living the life I imagined," and I think it's a constant struggle to align our imagined life with our actual life. Great post.

Isn't it amazing who's blogs we can find on this interweb?! Thanks a million for the comment! I too tried to make eye contact with you at least 83 times, but to no avail. Then at one point I was tempted to go and try to sit on the little bench by you guys, but realized that I wouldn't fit, which would lead to a great deal of embarrassment when I tried to sit down, fell off the edge, then had to walk BACK across the room and sit by Michael and Jessica's moms, and hope that they weren't bittter or offended that I wanted to sit by you more, but was somewhat settling for sitting by then. Anywho, it was good to see you and I'm glad that we were on the same page.

By the way, I read your profile a minute too late and hope that you don't hate my guts for using unnecessary exclamation points in my last comment. That's all.

Abbie, where did you come up with this awesome journal jar idea? Our blog literally is our journal, as I feel no desire to write out the long stories of our lives. You are a great mom, and your little one is just too cute.
